Why I am qualified to teach Citizenship in the Nation* |
Welcome to Citizenship in the Nation!
I'm very much looking forward to spending some time with you and to work with you to complete some of the requirements for this merit badge! As Scouts fulfill the requirements for this merit badge, they will learn how to become active citizens are aware of and grateful for their liberties and rights, to participate in their governments and protect their freedom, helping to defend their country and standing up for individual rights on behalf of all its citizens.
Please note that this class has prerequisites - Reqs 2 a,b or c, 3 & 8, and please read the Constitution. In addition to your blue card, you can also bring a copy of the merit badge worksheet (attached) to document the progress you've made toward earning this merit badge. The worksheet is not required, but is helpful. I'll have copies of the worksheet for your use in class.
I love adventure, especialy to understand and appreciate better our national heritage. I've recently visited the battlefield of Gettysburg where our country clashed in Civil War; I have a great-great-great grandfather that fought in that battle. I visited Valley Forge - where General George Washington wintered as he prepared to face the British; I have family that fought in the American Revolution as well. I visited Independence Hall, the location that the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution were debated and signed.
We have much to be grateful for and I'm excited to discuss what we can do to further advance this great country.
Please feel free to reach out to me with questions, or if there is any other way that I can help. |
